Bicycle

A car is not essential but offers most flexibility and facilitates sightseeing - there is plentiful free parking opposite the flat.

Car hire is available from
https://www.fynefutures.org.uk/carbute/register-join-car-bute/. (or click here.)

Buses run regularly from one end of the island to the other on the east side of the island.
In summer the open-top sight-seeing bus drives around the island every hour and it is possible to get off and on. The daily ticket for this bus is also valid on all local buses. Click here for more information.

Cycling is a great way to get about, there are no extremely steep hills and the island is a very manageable size.
Electric bicycle hire is available from the ferry port (https://www.fynefutures.org.uk/bikebute/ or click here).
Pedal bicycles can be borrowed if available from Bute Community Cycling. Click here for more information.

There are also plenty of taxis.
